JANUARY 25 - APRIL 22:  Zion launched our “Friends of Creation” partnership with CLWR.  As partners, Zion has set a goal of restoring 40 acres of land around Lake Chad in partnership with CLWR. Each acre is $50. $50 represents $5 each week from Mission Sunday until Earth Day in April. Imagine what an impact that can make to the communities around Lake Chad. 50 acres is $2000. Pastor Brad and his family have begun Zion’s challenge by adopting 10 acres. Can you meet this challenge with your family? Can we surpass this challenge? Let us be friends in creation with Canadian Lutheran World Relief.

LENTEN BOOK CLUB @ZION -Independent Reading February 18 - April 12:

“Valley of the Birdtail” is the book.  Begin reading on Ash Wednesday and complete by Easter, April 5. The Book Club will meet then the following Sunday, April 12th in the afternoon closer to 1 pm at Zion. A light lunch will be provided while we share our thoughts about the story. Please let Pat Mathews know if you are going to participate as she will provide discussion questions to consider when reading. The book costs $12 plus tax which you obtain yourself.   If cost is a challenges, please also connect with Pat herself; she will assist in getting you a copy privately.  “Valley of the Birdtail” story chosen for the Book Club is a Canadian best seller and award-winning book written by Andrew Stobo Sniderman and Douglas Sanderson.  It has been labelled a heart-rending true story.  One review says: “This book follows multiple generations of two families, one white and one Indigenous, and weaves their lives into the larger story of Canada. It is a story of villains and heroes, irony and idealism, racism and reconciliation. It has the ambition to change the way we think about our past and show a path to a better future.”
